Steel targets provide the shooter with immediate feedback. An audible “Ding” can be heard with an accurate shot/hit. In many cases, depending on target, caliber, and distance, the shooter will also notice the target move with an accurate shot/hit. This audible and visible feedback provides the shooter with confirmation of an accurate shot AND a more exhilarating and enjoyable target shooting experience! Even though our plates can handle steel ammo, it is NOT recommended to shoot ammo with steel in or on it. This will cause minor pitting on the surface of your AR500/AR550 steel target. Over time, the pitting will deepen and cause pockets to form. This will cause unpredictable spalling and fragmentation directions. This will reduce the lifespan of your AR500/AR550 steel target. Always follow firearm safety rules and guidelines when shooting steel. When hanging steel on a static mount, a 20 degree downward angle is a must to safely direct any spalling and fragmentation to the ground. When mounting gong style targets, ensure your hangars allow the steel to swing freely and easily, Bash Target Supply hanging kits do this perfectly. This will also direct spalling and fragmentation to the ground when the target is hit. It is strongly recommended that all shooters, instructors, RSOs, observers, etc. wear approved ballistic eye protection AT ALL TIMES while steel targets are in use on the range. • Includes (1) 12" Roung Gong, 3/8" thick, Premium AR500 Steel Target, built to last a lifetime with proper use and care. • All of our AR500/AR550 targets are precision laser cut to protect against edge chipping and corner plate cracking. Plates that are plasma cut tend to weaken due to the higher temperatures involved with plasma cutting and are not recommended for firearms targets. • Our AR500 steel targets are the only targets featuring (3) 1/2" holes to allow for both gong and static mount options. Targets can be hung with our ruggedized chains, straps, hooks, static brackets allowing the shooter multiple options depending on training needs or preferences. • Our guaranteed 3/8" thick AR500 steel targets are great for all handgun calibers, rimfire cartridges and most centerfire rifle calibers. Please reference our steel selection and use guide to match the caliber of your firearm and our target(s). We recommend a minimum safe distance of 25 yards for handguns and 100 yards for rifle. • All our plates are premium powder coated Red, White, Blue and Gray so you can quickly identify the thickness of your plate and ensure you are shooting the correct plate for your firearm/caliber. Red is 5/16" AR500, White is 3/8" AR500, Blue is 1/2" AR500, Gray is 1/2" AR550. Powder coating allows for rapid location of shot placement. Once powder coating has worn off, simply spray paint your plates. We recommend using the same color as the original.
