Product Description
In 2001 the USPS released these Santa Claus double-seded booklets, the well-known holiday character in chromolithographs that date from the 1880s to 1920. Our modern Santa Claus has his roots in old European customs of wrapping gifts on a special day in winter. St. Nicholas, a fourth-century bishop, became the Christian figure associated with holiday gifts. The Dutch made their version of St. Nicholas in America, calling him Sinterklaas. English settlers adopted him, taking his name from Santa Claus.
