After I was rear-ended in a chain reaction accident in April, I decided I wanted to get a dash cam in case I was ever hit again. I knew I wanted a 4-channel dash cam to view from all angles but not too expensive and with good reviews. I was originally looking at Driveye’s older model and it had a good price, features that I liked, and good reviews with very little complaints. However later when I had the money to order it, it was no longer in stock. I had to search for another dash cam and the first one to show up in the search was Driveye’s new model D7-4CH. It has new features, appears to take up less space than the older model and currently has a good price. This is a very nice 4-channel dash cam, Driveye packaged it very well and includes everything you need to install it. It has a well written manual that covers everything on installing and using the dash cam. The installation was not difficult at all, although it takes some time if you want to tuck the cables behind the plastic covers in your car. The only small gripe I have, is the back camera comes with two mounts. One for interior mounting and one for exterior mounting. Trying to screw either mount onto the rear camera is a little tricky because the screws are so small, and the little screwdriver included does not have a magnetic tip to hold the screw while you try to get it started. So, it takes a bit to hold the mount to the camera, get the tiny screw in the hole and put the screwdriver on the screw without it falling out in the process until you get it screwed in. It has been hot and muggy (90 with a heat index of 98) lately where I live and this camera even with the sun beating down on it and the interior of the car hot, has worked flawlessly with no shutdowns or crashes. It uses a button or coin battery that recharges and can withstand heat much better than a lithium battery which has the potential to catch fire. I also like that when it is in the 4-channel operation the front camera is 3.5k instead of 2k or even 1080P. I don’t have the 24 Hr. parking monitoring set up yet so I can’t comment on that yet. The app appears to be a little bland and simplistic, so not all the dash cam options are in the app, for some you must go into the camera itself. There has been some people that had issues with the app, but I think the app was updated because so far, I have had no glitches or issues with the app. To register for the 18-month warranty, just e-mail your Amazon order number, your name and the date of purchase to their e-mail address. You can also let them know if you want to be put on their notification for when they release firmware updates for the camera. Their customer service was very quick to respond when I registered for the 18-month warranty and when I had a question. In both cases, they responded to me within a few hours. They are also very easy to communicate with and are very nice. As with all products, the big test will be to see how long this dash cam will last. However, as of right now I am happy with the D7-4CH, and I recommend it if you are looking to buy a 4-channel dash cam.

I have been wanting a dash cam for about a year and after carefully reading reviews, I decided to get the Drive eye D7. This is a 4-channel unit: front, two sides and rear camera. I saw I was on sale during prime deal time in October so decided why not. I just spent about 90 minutes installing everything except the back camera. I also ordered the hardwire kit as I wanted to have video monitoring while parking. My 90 minutes included installing the hardwire kit. While waiting for it to ship, I checked out some YouTubes on how to hide the wires in my Infiniti QX50. It was good to know what panels can come off and how. Everything arrived within about a week and as I looked at the contents I was curious about the extra lens that the box contained and some little plastic sheets. Turns out the plastic sheets are the electrostatic sheets that the instructions mention and the extra lens is a polarizing filter for the main front lens. Really happy that they include the polarizer as with that on, with a slight twist, any reflections from my front windshield were gone. Before I started my install, I powered it up with a power bank and walked the camera around my house and play with the menus in the app to get to learn everything. If you're a handy person and used to adding DIY accessories for your car, the hardwire installation is pretty straightforward. Without the hardware kit, it's very simple to install. (I had contacted support via Skype to ask about the plastic sheets and the extra lens and they replied right away. They also sent some basic videos. They said in the future that they'll have the how-to videos on their website.) Over the 90 minutes, about 20 were spent carefully studying what's inside the a-pillar once I pulled back the covering, to see the best way to fish the power wire through there. Turns out I did not really have to fish it at all. I just tucked it in around the dash and then pushed it along the back edge of the dashboard side panel. There was one screw on the lower part of the dash I removed so I could pull back the lower dash cowling and tuck the rest of the wiring and the power converter box behind it. Very happy with how it turned out. Drove up and down the street and it records well and very nice clear pictures. I like that you can play back on the device as well as via the app. The only annoying thing is that it does not remember the Wi-Fi settings and resets to off whenever you turn off a car. I wish it would automatically turn on the Wi-Fi whenever you turn on the car. In the future I may not use the app much as I'd probably just pop out the SD card and look at the videos on my laptop
