Important precautions Only use oil and fats that are specially meant for the fondue (sunflower oil. peanut oil or vegetable frying fat such as coconut oil); so no margarine, butter, cooking fat or aromatized oils with ingredients (e.g. grape seeds or garden herbs). Fondue oil or fat is not suitable for re-use. Therefore, use new oil or fat every time you have fondue. Never use a mixture of different types of oil or fat. Keep a close eye on the temperature. If the liquid bubbles or if a blue mist rised from the fondue pot, it is certainly too hot. Place the fondue set on a stable, flat surface. Check whether it doesn’t wobble. Check the amount! Don’t pour too much or too few oil in the pot. Never Leave a hot fondue set unattended! Neither take the risk when the phone or doorbell rings. Keep the fondue set out of children’s reach! Don’t move the fondue set. Don’t walk around with a hot fondue set. Using the casserole of your fondue set to pre-heat the oil The cast iron fondue casserole can be pre-heated over certain heat sources: gas ,charcoal, solid alcohol, tealight. Do not use in a microwave oven. The cookware gets hot.Use a suited cloth,phtholders or oven mitts to handle the casserole. To avoid scratches on the surface of a ceramic or glass, always lift the cookware, NEVER slide across. Pre-heat on a burner that is approximately similar in base diameter to that of the fondue pot. When cooking on gas, adjust the flame so it does not flare up the sides of the pot. Your casserole has fast heat transfer so food and oil chare very quickly. Always pre-heat using low to medium heat. We recommend using bamboo,silicone,nylon or wooden utensils to protect and extend the life of your cookware. Never cut food while in the casserole as this will damage the surface. Don’t use beaters or mixers in these items. Do not drop the cookware on the floor, save the cookware from dents and protect the enameled coating from scratches.
