From the Manufacturer MRC’s HO dual mode drop-in sound decoder for Kato SD40-2 replaces the factory PC board. No modifications are required for installation; even the speaker drops into its own location. MRC’s true, live capture, sounds include SD40 prime mover diesel rumbles, recorded (railside) by MRC’s Sound Engineers. DC power pack users can experience the full benefits of the 1802 decoder when coupled to MRC’s BlackBox (#0001050) control unit or the Tech 6 line of powerpacks. 1.5 amp capacity. 16 different types of horns and 8 types of bells. Programmable features include individual sound volumes, either 2-digit or 4-digit addresses, start voltage and top voltage, acceleration and deceleration rates, 14, 28, 128 speed steps. Supports full readback capability, factory default speed curve, advanced consisting (CV19) and programming on the main (OPS mode). Advanced speed table control CV67-CV94. Kick start voltage control CV65. 3 headlight effects: Directional/rule 17/off-dim-bright cycle. User controllable ditch lights. Complies with Part 15 of FCC regulations. (Locomotive not included).
